If you haven´t noticed, it´s Vampire Season. New Moon is entering cinemas all over the world. True Blood seems to be a success as well, and now we all wait for the third season to come. The new sitcom The Vampire Diaries has also entered TV networks. And how come? Why are they so interesting? It seems to be vampire myths and catastrophic themes that rules on TV network and cinemas. Are we a bit drawn to mytical creatures as vampires, and their world of darkness? Are they the fairytale creatures of the modern world? And who hasn´t read fairytales and loved it. And you don´t have to stop loving it just because you´re getting older.
All vampire stories includes dark nights, sharp fangs, blood and death and of course love and passion. Who wouldn´t love that?
It started out with Bram Stokers Dracula; the book as well as the movie. By my opinion one of the best Dracula movies. Shadow of a vampire is another scary movie starring Willem Dafoe as Nosferatu, another name for Dracula.
Then there is Buffy the Vampire Slayer who made it through a lot of seasons, and then there was Moonlight, starring Alex O´Loughlin as vampire detective Mick S:t John. Too bad it didn´t survived.
Then came True Blood, based on Charlaine Harris´s books about the waitress Sookie Stackhouse. The English TV show Being Human in six episodes, starring Aidan Turner, wasn´t that bad. And recently, The vampire Diaries, in its first season.
I highly recommend the Swedish movie Let the Right One In, which is about a young vampire girl called Eli and her friendship with a young boy. It´s very realistic and nothing for the fainthearted. It´s based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
And of course, there are the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer. Read and loved by so many all over the world.
I´ve just read her other book The Host, and enjoyed it very much. I strongly recommend it!
Let´s get on with our vampire businesses then! (And please check out my Cullen gallery)
